Nissan GQ Patrol Replacement Roof Gutters / Drip rail

After repairing countless GQ Patrol roofs and gutters affected by rust, we realised we simply couldn't keep up with the demand. Instead of repairing one Patrol at a time, we started manufacturing replacement panels that you can weld in yourself.

Our replacement roof gutters are made from 1.0 mm cold-rolled steel and are designed to suit all Nissan GQ Patrol models, including SWB, LWB, low roof and high roof. They feature the same rolled and flattened profile lip as the factory gutters for an excellent fit and strength.

Please note that these gutters do not include the small lower lip that originally retained the factory chrome trim. If you're only replacing a small section, the chrome trim will still fit without issue. However, if you're replacing an entire side or large session, you'll need to bond the chrome trim in place with adhesive so it doesn't come off, or simply leave it off.

Installation

The best repair method is to begin by drilling out or grinding down the factory spot welds where the roof skin joins the gutter.

In most cases, if the gutter has rusted through, the edge of the roof skin will also have rust. but If the roof skin is still in good condition, you'll need to carefully cut the side off roof and pry it upwards enough to access the spot welds underneath. Alternatively, you can remove the roof skin completely if you're replacing it as well.

Once you have access, drill out or grind away the factory spot welds that attach the gutter to the inner roof structure and remove the old gutter.

Before fitting, drill 6-8 mm holes along the each where the gutter attaches to the roof structure, tack weld the gutter into place at each end and make sure it's straight and level and then Plug weld the holes you drilled to recreate the factory spot welded strength and assembly, then fully weld the ends and dress the welds smooth.

fit the roof skin back over the new gutter. If reusing the original roof, plug weld through the factory spot weld holes you drilled out. If fitting one of our replacement roof panels, drill 6-8 mm holes along the edge and plug weld it to the gutter in the same way as the factory.

Plug welding: Match the factory spot weld spacing where possible. This is typically 25–40 mm

Once all welding is complete, apply a quality seam sealer along every joint before priming and painting. This helps prevent moisture from entering the seams and significantly reduces the chance of rust returning.
